The process

Heat, pressure and time under full control.

Moulding thermoset composites means governing three variables at the same time: the applied force, the closing speed and the temperature of the moulds. The SMC or BMC charge is laid on the heated platen and compressed: the material flows into the cavity, cross-links and consolidates into a finished part with thin walls and high specific strength.

Durendus presses combine fine control of the approach speed with pressure dwell and platen parallelism guaranteed by active levelling systems: the result is uniform thickness, constant density and the absence of porosity or surface defects, even on large surfaces.

SMC/BMC compression moulding
The charge is compressed between heated platens: the closing profile and pressure dwell are programmable for complete filling and uniform cross-linking.

Transfer moulding
Controlled transfer of the material from the loading chamber to the cavity, ideal for metal inserts and complex geometries with tight tolerances.

GMT & LFT forming
Moulding of fibre-reinforced thermoplastics (GMT, LFT) with a high approach speed and high force for lightweight structural components.

Thermosets & plastics
Moulding of phenolic, melamine and epoxy resins with zoned heated platens and stable thermal cycles for consistent finishes.
