The process
Controlling material tension at every stage.
Deep drawing forms sheet metal into hollow, seamless geometries where the part depth exceeds its diameter. The engineering challenge is managing the radial tension and tangential compression of the material to prevent wrinkling or tearing. Durendus presses use double or triple-action hydraulic systems with a dedicated hydraulic die cushion in the bed: the blank holder applies controlled force to the periphery of the sheet while the main ram drives the punch with a precise velocity profile, ensuring uniform wall thickness and minimal springback.
